Hot Toddy for the Body

We've reached that point in winter. You know the one: the sparkle of Christmas and New Year's are so far gone you wonder if they even happened, and spring is still painfully far off. It's the doldrums of winter, the part that C.S. Lewis must have used to help his readers understand what Narnia was like under the spell of the White Witch. "Always winter, but never Christmas."

I don't mind winter, but around this time of year it gets to be a bit trying. I don't want to wear a hat anymore, I'm sick of my toes being cold, and I'm bored with all my sweaters. Enter: Hot Toddy for the Body. This smart little kit contains a scrub and body oil with scents and essential oils reminiscent of a real hot toddy. Doesn't it sound warm and refreshing? (Californians and Texans need not answer :)

How about you, any tricks to get through the last bits of winter? Besides a vacation!

I'm completely obsessed with the French nail polish blog Pshiiit—which I have no idea how to say out loud without sounding vulgar, but the Internet seems to think it's some sort of French onomatopoeia (any French-speaking readers know what it means?). They post such fun and pretty nail polish ideas, even though I can't necessarily read what they say about them! I can't wait to try a few.

Practically Perfect In Every Way

Kate Spade introduced a line of lipsticks with a name inspired by Ms. Practically-Perfect-In-Every-Way, Mary Poppins. The new Supercalifragilipstick line comes in four shades of pink and red, and has had the song stuck in my head all week.

Which really isn't a bad thing because I looove Mary Poppins (I'm tempted to say it's my favorite Disney movie, but I'm terrible at favorites). Embarrassing Mary Poppins-related story: in college I sang "Supercalafraglisticexpialidocious" (badly) in front of a panel of teachers for a grade! It was awful. Maybe I should buy the lipstick, to associate better memories with the word...

Summer hair

*Male readers (all two of you) please direct your attention here. We're talking about hair.

I know it's still technically spring, but with a high of 80 degrees today it (finally) feels like summer in New York City. It has me thinking about summer hair. Specifically updo styles, for those days when it's too hot to wear clothes (but you have to) and the thought of letting your hair touch your neck is unbearable. So I'm excited to try some of these styles from Hair Romance as the humidity settles in.

I'm kind of obsessed with Hair Romance and her 30 Days of Twists & Pins (30 updos in 30 days!). Now, if only she could create a tutorial to give "big" hair to those of us with "little" hair. It's my ultimate hair dream.

Ok, before the girly-vanity post is over, here's one more tutorial: a big, poufy party bun from Reagan of Hairdresser on Fire. Maybe it'll get me a little closer to my big hair dreams.
